Form of Government: Open Town Meeting & Board of Selectmen
The Board of Selectmen is comprised of three elected members, and is the chief executive body of the Town. It draws its authority from the General Laws of Massachusetts and the Bylaws of the Town of Westminster and is directly responsible to the electorate.

OLD TOWN HALL NEEDS ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE - Volunteers Needed
The Board of Selectmen is in the process of forming a new committee to prepare a vision statement needs assessment for the future use of the Old Town Hall on Bacon Street. The Board is seeking residents representing a variety of interest groups with a vision for rehabilitating the building for use as a community center.
A few suggestions from a recent town wide survey included uses such as performing arts, public functions, youth and senior citizen activities, exercise programs, meeting space, private functions, art exhibits, and other activities.

BOARD OF SELECTMEN AGENDA: November 28th
Some of the Board's responsibilities include: policy making for a wide variety of issues that affect the Town's provision of services, calling Town Meetings and preparing warrants, oversight on litigation matters, licensing (as the Town's Licensing Authority) for various licenses and permits, negotiating union contracts, supervising Town expenditures, contracts and weekly bills, maintaining public streets and lights, enacting rules and regulations for such matters as traffic control.
The Board of Selectmen also appoint most of the Town's department heads and appointed officers as well as more than twenty volunteer boards and committees.
One of the offices appointed by the Board is the Town Administrator who performs the administrative tasks of the town on behalf of the Board.
In addition to its administrative and coordination functions, the office also addresses public inquiries, complaints, suggestions, and requests for information concerning those matters for which the Selectmen are responsible.
